Things to do in Skopje
Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, lies on both banks of the Vardar. The Stone Bridge joins Macedonia Square to the Old Bazaar, an Ottoman quarter of lanes, inns, baths and mosques below the Kale fortress. Much of the centre was rebuilt after the 1963 earthquake, and many facades and statues were added in the 2010s by the Skopje 2014 project.
